I get great satisfaction utilizing various materials, both natural or from rescued homestead materials, such as scrap iron, wood, insulation paper, etc.  Most of my images are contemporary interpretations of traditional western/tribal designs.
 
 

     With deep roots in the plains of South Dakota, Bryan’s work is inspired by prairie wildlife and the early native peoples of this area.  His career began in 1976 doing scrimshaw on a variety of materials including ivory, bone, antler and horn. 


     A self-taught artist, Bryan’s work has expanded to carving and inlay on these materials, as well as pottery, sandstone, gourds and other natural materials.   He is an accomplished gold and silver-smith creating individual hand cut and fabricated pieces.  His most recent endeavor involves painting on century old heavy paper that has retained it’s rich texture and color.
